You can use a variety of free tools and certifications to help you learn both soft and hard skills that employers want. Make sure to read job descriptions for positions you are interested in for the future to see which skills you need to develop now. 

UT LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is an online educational platform that helps you discover and develop business, technology-related and creative skills through expert-led course videos.

With more than 5,000 courses and personalized recommendations, you can discover, complete and track courses related to your field and interests. You can also choose to add these courses and related skills to your LinkedIn profile once you’ve completed them.

This service is free for all current UT students and staff!

UT Coursera Certificate Programs

Microsoft Excel Certificate

Learners who complete this course will receive a branded certificate from Microsoft/Coursera to put on your LinkedIn profile indicating that you have completed this course.

Students in a certificate cohort have one month to complete this program and a new cohort begins the certificate program at the start of each month.

Grow with Google

Prepare for a new career in a high-growth field - no experience required. Through Grow with Google certificates, you’ll get professional training designed by Google and the opportunity to connect with top employers currently hiring. Google offers certificates in Data Analytics, Digital Marketing & E-commerce, Project Management, IT Support, and User Experience Design.

Free Certifications

  • ClassCentral: Online learning hub with a huge list of free online certifications and reviews. From coding to marketing to healthcare, you’re bound to find a new skill to learn!
  • Salesforce Trailhead: Free learning platform launched by Salesforce. It provides learning materials mainly in Salesforce related skills. You can also find topics outside of Salesforce such as Blockchain, iOS App Development, or even Civic Engagement in the US and Contact Tracer Roles and Responsibilities.
  • Microsoft Learn: Microsoft offers over 1960 free modules and 430 learning paths to learn about its products, such as Office 365, Visual Studio, Windows, SQL Server, and Azure.
