These services include but are not limited to: translating your military skills into a resume for the workplace, helping you explore your career options and getting you prepared for the interviewing and selection process.

Gauging a Company’s Inclusion Practices

As you’re exploring different opportunities with a company/organization, consider reflecting on what is most important to you from your next employer. We all have different values in what we want in our workplaces. You may want to find a company that has demonstrated values and an environment supportive of veterans. There are many ways that a company can demonstrate their commitment to veterans such as:

  • Having a recruiter dedicated to veterans recruitment

  • A company history of supporting, retaining, promoting, etc. its veteran employees

  • Accepting military training in place of civilian credentials

  • Having an employee affinity group for veterans

Resume Considerations

One challenge that some veterans face during the hiring process is translating military experience into specific skills that employers are looking for. It may be helpful to review multiple job descriptions you’re interested in to understand the general and specific skills typically required in the field you’re pursuing. Your resume can be a useful tool for you to highlight the skills employers are looking for as well as the leadership experience you obtained from your service. Check out the articles below to learn how you can translate your military experience on your resume.
